One of my laptops got infected with virus when I downloaded an anti-spyware software by mistake. Actually I visited a site and got this message that your computer might be under attck from so and so IP address, run a free scan.
I had to reinstall the windows and all the software, including Mozilla Firefox. The latest version 3 is available now, so I downloaded it. But now I had a new problem.
When I work on computer, I open many sites in different tabs, so that I don't have to look for a reopen a relevant site or search for it when I need to see or refer something. But after downloading firefox, all the pages were getting reloaded/refreshed every time I left to view another site. It was particulary irritating while writing a post on blogger. I am writing a post, think of uploading an image, I go on snipshot to edit the image and when I come back to upload the image, I am asked " your changes haven't been saved, do you want to navigate away from the page? Press Cancel to stay on the same page." It means that every time I left the post in the middile, I was to face this message again and had to click on cancel an upteen number of times.
Internet explorer is working fine,
but I don't like IE, so what is the solution. I reinstalled firefox, but the problem was still the same. Pages were getting refreshed on their own. I checked all the options in Firefox and found no fault or a way out. Then my husband took reins in his hands and found the solution. Skype is a add-on in new Firefox version by default, but its not installed properly. So it try to reload again and again, which was causing the opened sites to reload on their own. He uninstalled Skype from Firefox add on list and I got my good old Mozilla Firefox back. Infact it is an improved fireox. When you start typing a site name in the browser window, firefox gives you an option to choose it from a list it shows in a drop down menu. Its something like google search, which shows a list of suggestions as you type words in the search box. Other things I have to explore.

Let me start by saying "Firefox Rocks!".
It's not that I don't like IE, but I don't use it for surfing. I only use IE to test the web applications I create or to open such sites which are not yet supported on Firefox (Bad sites!).
As for Skype issue, thanks for sharing. If I happen to use it I will definitely keep my self fireproofed beforehand.
Firefox 3:
There are tons of improvements. From the end user's prospective, must to mention are: Bookmarking, the 'Smart Address Bar' (I just love this feature, as I don't bother find my particular bookmark, I just happen to type few letters and FF3 gives me suggestions from my Bookmarks As well as My history. And yes, its smart....it lists the entries in the order of its last use), the Security warnings, The Lighting Speed (need I mention it?), The download management (one of the best I have seen), the Non-disturbing "Save Password" prompt.........aha.....there are so many more to mention.
The only thing I'm a li'l sad 'bout is..........many extensions don't work anymore..........specially my most favourite TabMixPlus........hope they release one for FF3 soon.
once again, thanks for sharing your experiences Sheetal. They are always valuable for the world.
Keep rocking.

I had a problem not too long ago on my laptop as well. It was a bit different though.
Basically, the last time I was at my parents I left my CIV III cd there. So instead of asking them to mail it or wait until I get it again, I decided to download it off thepiratebay.
I have the CD Key and all, so I didn't think anything of it. After I downloaded, wam... horrible trojan. I spent a few days trying to clean it up and after a few months I get a message from my ISP saying I'm sending spam emails due to a trojan.... and they were right. I didn't get it all cleaned off.
So I had to reinstall everything.. man is that a pain.

Is Firefox more stable these days?
I remember using it last year and it was using up four times as much memory as Internet Explorer 6!

Firefox 3 is just the best browser so far. I downloaded the version during their Guiness World Record and guess what? Firefox sent me a personalized certificate in participation of setting a new world record.

FF3 has had a few issues but overall I like it. I'm giving google chrome a good test at the moment. So far so good. It is great to see fresh challengers in the browser wars.
